Trying Knitting to Heal, Build Skills, and Soothe the Soul - Oct 23, 2023
Life has a way of throwing unexpected challenges our way, often leaving us feeling overwhelmed and seeking solace. Grief, stress, and mental health struggles are experiences that many of us encounter at some point in our lives. While there's no one-size-fits-all solution for coping with these challenges, one creative and therapeutic outlet that has gained popularity in recent years is knitting. I am learning this seemingly simple craft has the power to help us build new skills, deal with grief, and provide much-needed calm for our minds.
In the midst of my grief, I've found solace in the gentle art of knitting. The rhythmic click of the needles and the soft embrace of yarn have become my companions on this difficult journey. With each stitch, I weave together a tapestry of healing, slowly mending the fragments of my heart. I am finding that knitting is not just a craft it's a way to cope, to create, and to find comfort in the midst of loss.
I've started my first project last night and I'm excited to continue on my knitting journey.

If you are struggling with mental health, grief, loss, depression or anxiety, reach out and ask for help. There is a ton of support out there. You are not alone and you matter.
